Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu relies on applying pressure on specific points on the body's surface to eliminate fatigue and stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Shiatsu is traditionally performed on a mat on the floor. One of its advantages as a therapy is that it is given through clothes, with the pressure focused on deep body structures.

Hi,

I'm Rita Danis, LMT Specializing in Zen Shiatsu, Reiki & Bach Flower Therapy

I realized early on how important it is to keep the body and mind healthy. Even as a young child, I was already in uniquely connecting with people and nature, but I didn’t understand how to implement that knowledge. As I was fighting through several traumatic events, I moved away from my career in architecture and engineering and towards training in a different direction – various healing modalities. When I started the journey with water therapy (WATSU in India), I realized the importance of being grounded, rooted in life.

So for a couple of years, I studied Zen Shiatsu and Naturopathy in Hungary and learned Chinese Medicine from different teachers/doctors. The love of Shiatsu grew in me so much that I started teaching classes. While life changes happened, my path led me across the world to New Mexico. Moving to a new country meant I needed to start everything over. This didn’t discourage me, and I completed my training in the US as a Licensed Massage Therapist to practice and share the Zen Shiatsu that I love.

While doing all the other necessary steps, I focused on additional methods which help balance emotions and bring healing. This lead me to Bach Flower Therapy and Reiki.

Zen Shiatsu

Shiatsu relies on applying pressure on specific points on the body's surface to eliminate fatigue and stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. One of its advantages as a therapy is that it is given through clothes. Shiatsu pressure focuses not on the skin surface but on the deeper body structures.

Shiatsu is traditionally performed on a mat on the floor. For the practitioner, working on the floor permits maximum versatility, as the pressure can be applied with knees, feet, elbows, and hands. “Thumbing” is one of the most valuable and characteristic Shiatsu techniques, suitable for applying strong and focused pressure. – The Japanese word shiatsu is composed of a character meaning finger (shi) and another character meaning pressure (atsu).

The systems of palpatory diagnosis and the extension of classical acupuncture meridians throughout the body mean that the Shiatsu treatment covers the whole body, providing a complete relaxation experience while at the same time focusing minutely on the receivers’ current treatment needs.

Zen Shiatsu, in theory, and practice, treats the receiver as a whole, as did the most ancient versions of Chinese medical theory. Through the meridians, the giver treats the receiver’s mind, spirit, emotions, and physical body.

Shiatsu is, therefore, very effective, either alone or in combination with other treatment modalities, in conditions where emotional disturbance or stress is an underlying factor. But shiatsu is not strictly speaking medicine; it is primarily a way to prevent the development of sickness and a therapy ideally suited to help one become more sensitive and develop their spiritual needs.

Reiki

The Reiki healing treatment will be provided in a safe, comfortable, calm environment. Using a series of hand positions, hands are placed on or above you, worked from head to toe to enhance the balancing and healing experience.  Energy flows through the practitioner to you. Energy goes to the areas in the body where it is needed and releases physical, mental, and emotional blockages. It provides exactly what you need and brings you into a deep state of relaxation and restoration.

Pendulum dowsing is often used as a quick and accurate way of establishing energy flow and blockages in a client. A pendulum and dowsing over each chakra can determine the energetic status and well-being (i.e., balanced, under-energized, or over-energized).

Tibetan singing bowls are also used during sessions. Besides their traditional use for meditation, Tibetan singing bowls are used for deep relaxation and muscle regeneration, to relieve pain in the joints, muscles, and shoulders, to ease pain related to sciatica, the digestive system, headaches, and migraine or spine injuries, to improve circulation, release tensions or blockages, to open the energy flow, eliminate the toxins from the body. When we relax with the sounds of Tibetan bowls or the gong, our concentration improves, and our emotional tensions and blockages are eased.

Bach Flower Therapy

"Treat the cause, not the effect" - Dr. Edward Bach

The Bach Flower Remedies work harmoniously with herbs, homeopathy, and medications and are safe for all. The effect of taking the remedies is not to suppress negative attitudes but to transform them into positive ones, stimulating one’s potential for self-healing and freeing the physical system to fight disease and stress.

People do not have to be physically ill to benefit from the remedies. Many of us endure difficulty and fatigue when negativity creeps in: the remedies are invaluable in restoring balance before physical symptoms appear.

The remedies may be taken independently or with medical or other treatments, with no side effects. They are gentle in action and can safely be taken by people of all ages and animals.
