Wait, you're saying there are actually good things that happen in this world? Like, right here in the good 'ole U.S.A.? Even under the current administration?
I used to feel nearly constant overwhelm and anxiety. These days, though, I'm more able to care for myself, my family and my friends by allowing some balance in my world. I carefully filter what media I consume- including social media.
If you're a person who is particularly sensitive like me, or you are just finding all the things too much for you, I challenge you to give a media diet a try. Whatever works for you is what works for you- the point is just to take a hard look at how and what you are consuming.
Protecting your spirit is infinitely important in the time of pop-ups and horrific news delivered to you in real time via the device that stays attached to you at all times. How you show up to this world matters, and if your light is being dimmed by the constant shit storm of politics, murder and tragedy, let's find another way, ok? Creating boundaries and shielding yourself from trauma is not only ok, but a healthy thing to do (because let's face it, watching people being gunned down on repeat is traumatizing.)
What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts, concerns, fears, etc. You can even feel free tell me why you think I'm wrong. I'm all ears.
