Hi. I'm Jessica Hill Powell
As your Physical Reboot guide, my professional expertise centers around holistic wellness and behavior change. I have a degree in Psychology from Bellarmine University and completed my health coach training and certification at Duke Integrative Medicine. I'm also a trained yoga instructor and an aromatherapy wellness advocate; many modalities, one goal: complete health & well-being.
Those credentials might have you assuming I'm always on my A-game. You know, I work out consistently and eat well all the time, and I’m basically in perfect health, and I'm here to show you how to be perfect. My friend, that would set us both up for failure.
Here's what may surprise you: I deal with depression and anxiety and have psoriatic arthritis (an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to ramp up and attack the joints and skin. It's put me in a wheelchair on more than one occasion.) Learning to live fully with these experiences is why I do this work. Feeling good in your skin can require extra work for some of us, whether it's a chronic disease, situational stress, or something else.
I’ve improved my health and resilience because I've spent the last decade learning to care for my physical and emotional body. What inspired the creation of Physical Reboot?
I needed it. And I realized that if I needed it, you might need it too.
Health is literally *in my job title*, and it's still, at times, beyond my reach. Not that long ago, I was buckling under the stress of the pandemic, disregarding everything I've learned over the last decade about how I have to treat my body for it to keep functioning the way I want it to. Hello, full-blown autoimmune flare-up!
I was shocked it was happening, but there I was with my joints aching, mental fog, depression, skin outbreaks, the whole nine yards. I told myself that I wasn't eating *that bad* and I didn't even have work to stress over. But these were circumstances I found myself in. Maybe you can relate.
- I found myself as a stay-at-home mom with four small children, plus I’m now their teacher?!
- My introverted nature demands lots of time spent in quiet, contemplative work. My home environment is more like a circus. A very loud circus.
- My mental overwhelm caused me to forget about my self-care toolbox.
- I was trying to keep up with ALL THE THINGS and not respecting that my capacity for getting things done had been severely diminished. We were in the middle of a pandemic, and my business was shut down, but I wasn't cutting myself any slack.
Having been without a flare-up for years, this one felt like an absolute defeat and threatened my mobility, clarity of mind, and ability to care for my children and their most basic needs. I was exhausted and had zero energy to put into work, relationships, or anything that usually brings me joy.
The good news is that years of trial and error have shown me the way back to feeling better. When I fall off the wagon, and my well-laid plans are derailed, I know exactly what to do. Triage. Hard reset. Ctrl+Alt+Del. Physical Reboot.
Baby step by baby step, I'll gently lead you through the process of rebuilding your vitality. We'll start with the most foundational piece in the Physical Reboot: nutrition.
You won’t have to look outside yourself for a set of dietary rules to follow ever again. You’ll get good at interpreting your body’s signals, she’ll tell you what to eat and what not to eat, and you’ll finally listen because you’re connected to your inner knowing. Maybe that sounds like some new-age woo, but it's all rooted in science and easier than you might think. What to Expect from the Physical Reboot Course
Foundation for Success
In the first module, you'll set the stage for your success by diving into your sense of ideal health. We'll look at the real power of your imagination and why creating a vision of your well-being is essential. (Hint: if you can't imagine it, it will not happen in real life.) We'll go through a self-assessment, where you’ll identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. Harnessing the power of your strengths and past “failures” will propel you forward! You’ll go on to develop clear, realistic, and measurable goals for your Reboot and beyond. Yes, I know you want to feel less like garbage, but how? And we'll close out by anticipating bumps in the road, creating game plans for when you encounter them, and establishing accountability for yourself.
Re-Education: Your Reboot Roadmap
Module 2 is about re-learning what you thought you knew about nutrition and reconnecting to your body as a form of guidance. Believe it or not, your body will become the compass that will lead your way. We'll go over the complete Nutrition Guidebook here, which explains what we'll be eating during the Reboot and Discovery Phases (and why) and what's off the table (and why). You'll be given all the necessary tools to help you properly plan and execute feeding yourself in the most nourishing way, including tips for spotting the sneaky stuff on nutrition labels in the United States (thanks, F.D.A., for making it as confusing as possible for consumers!) Lastly, you'll set your Reboot start date, and we'll wrap up with organizing your pantry and fridge to help you coast right on through your reboot.
In Module 3, we'll dip our toes into the emotional side of eating and supporting you through some of what you may encounter. While you're doing your reboot, we'll examine your current emotional eating patterns and "negative" coping mechanisms to unearth their value. On the surface, your body is telling you, "I need three chocolate chip cookies!" but underneath that, it's saying something more true that serves your well-being. You'll figure out how to better nourish yourself by decoding what your body is telling you. Next, we'll discuss tracking your progress and non-scale victories. During the Physical Reboot, you'll evaluate your successes and difficulties and shore up your support systems to keep up with the behaviors you've discovered that make you feel good and continue to release the ones you know make you feel like garbage.

This hour-long masterclass will teach you how to be more resilient and better equipped to handle stress. Stressors and stress itself are two different things that are both solved differently. There are 12 spots available, and they're first come, first served. If you'd like, you can be put on the waiting list for when the Physical Reboot launches at full price. Moral of the story: don't wait to sign up if your body and soul really need a reboot.
It would be best to have a computer or mobile device with a reliable internet connection and access to a printer. You'll be given supplemental materials and writing exercises through the online class portal, many of which you may want to print out. Local FedEx and UPS stores offer great printing services. You may also check with your local library for free or minimal-cost printing.
There are four group coaching sessions included in Physical Reboot. It's important to attend the live sessions, but the recorded replay will be available for anyone who must miss. The sessions will take place October 7 & 21, Nov 4 & 18 on Zoom from 9am-10am.
While this course is available for you to work at your own pace, we do operate as a cohort, meaning that we will begin at the same time and move through the content at a similar pace. Your Physical Reboot will take between eight and twelve weeks to complete.

Beyond the five group coaching sessions that provide direct access to the instructor, you'll also have:

- Should you choose, you will be given a “buddy” to help keep each other accountable (discussed and designated during the first group session)
